Was walkin round trying to take some photos today n a thought kept creeping up over me. it is hard to get a nice shot in a city where literally every corner, every balcony, every little stone has been photographed a thousand and some times. what kind of unique image am i gonna get here? i just didn’t wanna do the “balcony” shots that encapture barcelona in it’s stock photo after stock photo (tho ended up giving away half a roll on that). so i was doing some research and ran into a man who stirred some controversy with his photos of Barcelona back in the day.
they’re also using a brand new video for ‘croc’ to get people hyped up. check out the video from noisey here. no sage francis references, but big up to MC Jimmy Jams n producer Bobby Evans. big up to Earnest Endeavours.

i heard this song over at moteldemoka. a blog that i have never contacted or worked with, but i respect so so highly. the song was summer storm by fox + sui. blew my mind away. images of bubbles, flakes, bjork, coconuts, smiles, so many smiles n some people dancing in the sand. with the toes all in. kinda a cheese image, but the last time this happened to me was a really long time ago. (it was when i heard “at the river” by groove armada). if you know the feeling, then ya know. couple of drinks later and im furiously typing this post to make sure people hear of these two. good place to start…
saw these guys tear it down @martyrslive last night. support @EMEFEmusic in their new record, Good Future. more info at theirs, EMEFEMUSIC.COM. i know they opened for the afrobeat project, but they got people boogying down way harder. it was chi-town vs. NYC, n tho a certain someone i know might be mad over this, NYC won last nite.

the Guardian does the music, and possibly the comedy, community a service. an A-Z guide on today’s trending musical genres. i dont know how these names can be taken seriously, but the definitions of terms like tumblr-wave, cloud rap, and lazer funk make for an interesting read. i always think that these terms become popularized by non-listeners of the genres, but i could be wrong and this list is the bible for all, but to me beat producers, whether they are from a certain country or have a focus on a specific sound don’t need 20 genres to differentiate the amount of synth they use. an instrumental break is just that n doesn’t need to be classified as lazer or bro or fucking anything else. i think when new producers come out onto the scene, they try to be unique, just as any musician should, n they maybe start blowing up, n then u get a bunch of girls n boys trying to replicate the sound, n all of a sudden its a new genre. its alla buncha crap. people should just educate themselves on music, musical instruments, and musical genres. n we can say this beat uses a gong, or this house track has a lot of african percussion, or this hiphop beat uses off-rhytmic patterns n the lyrical deals with this. fuck. don’t even get me started on genres that have nothing to do with music n are just so because of some internet trend, aka tumblr-wave. get the fuck outta here. if my music was ever descirbed as such, id stop making music n pursue my first passion, interior design.
